William Brown

Shihan William Brown currently holds a 5th degree black belt under Kyokushin. With over 45 years of Martial Arts experience and a direct student of first generation Kyokushin instructors that began in 1975. Notable instructors include; Shihan Seiji Kanamura, Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura, Kancho Henri-Oh and Shihan Jacques Jadotte. With over 20 years of instructing and training competitors; his competition resume includes but is not limited to:

1981 Golden Gloves tournament.

​Point, semi contact and full contact competitor from 1985-2002 

Local and regional wins in the NY tri-state area and abroad to name a few.

His passion is instructing others and maintaining the tradition of the Kyokushin way. William grew up in Brooklyn, NY and relocated to Charlotte NC over 19 years ago. He resides in Harrisburg, NC with his family. William works for Mecklenburg County as a building inspector/plans examiner.

Issac Harrow

Sensei Isaac Harrow grew up in Hickory, NC. Played baseball at Appalachian State University and graduated in 2009. He was drafted by the New York Yankees after his senior year. After playing one year in the minor league organization, he pursued Kyokushin Karate. Sense Harrow trained under Master Reid and Lail Karate School of Oyama in Hickory, NC. He was promoted to 3rd Dan Sensei on February 11th, 2023. Sensei Harrow resides in Indian Trail, NC with his wife and works as a commercial real estate broker for The Moser Group Inc.

Willie Colon

Sensei Willie Colon grew up in Fayetteville, NC. Has been training in Kyokushin for roughly 20 plus years beginning as a preteen with his two brothers under their father, Sensei Willie Colon Sr out of Puerto Rico. He continued to pursue Kyokushin Karate in his adult life training under Sensei Taku Nakasaku out of Las Angeles CA. Sense Colon since moved to Charlotte, NC in 2010 and found Sensei Brown. Willie was promoted to 3rd Dan Sensei on February 11th of 2023. He has continued to train at a high level and assists with instruction. Willie lives in Charlotte with his family and works as a government contractor.

Sensei Willie is an Assistant Instructor at Kokoro Dojo.

Sensei Reggie Silver is a native of North Carolina. He has trained in kyokushin for many years beginning under Sensei Kenny Buffaloe. Several years ago he relocated to the Charlotte area and began training under Sensei Yuji Iwakura in Enshin Karate where he received his Shodan. Sensei Reggie now trains at Kokoro Dojo with his family sharing his experience. Sensei Silver was promoted to 3rd Dan Sensei on February 11th of 2023. Dr Silver as he is known is the Associate Dean of studies at UNC and resides with his family in Charlotte. Dr. Silver is an Assistant and fight Instructor at Kokoro Dojo.

Reggie Silver

Senpai Ayanna Silver is a native of North Carolina. She has trained in kyokushin for many years with her father, Dr Silver. She began training under Sensei Yuji Iwakura in Enshin Karate before relocating to Kokoro Dojo with her dad under Sensei Brown. She successfully tested in 2019 and received her Shodan. Ayanna continued to train and become a model dedicated student for others. Ayanna was promoted to 2nd Dan on February 11th of 2023. 

Ayanna is an honors grad from UNC Charlotte and is currently working towards her masters.

Dominique Barnes

Dominique Barnes has been training and competing in Martial Arts for over 17 plus years. She currently lives in Charlotte, NC where she attended Hopewell High school and later UNC Wilmington, where we received her BA in Film Studies. She began her martial arts career in Shito Ryu Karate. She holds the rank of 6th Kyu (green belt), before having to move back home to Charlotte. Once home she transitioned from Shito Ryu Karate to Taekwondo. She received her 1st black belt in ATA (American Taekwondo Association) and later her 1st Dan Stripe. While with ATA she was State Champion in Forms, Weapons and Sparring in 2010. She ended her Season with a sparring record of 32-3. She also trained in other martial arts such as Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Budokon, and Boxing. Wanting to go back and continue her Karate Do training she found a school in the University area under Sensei William Brown. Kyokushin Karate and Shito Ryu karate had some similarities that helped her transition back into the Karate Do universe. Now while studying under Kyokushin Kan she has received another black belt in Kyokushin Karate.  Under the instruction of Sensei William Brown and her fellow students: she enjoys training and following the rules of the Kyokushin Dojo Kun. She recently tested for Nidan on February 11th, 2023.
